Tuck Everlasting ch. 21 - epilogue

Winnie helped the Tucks in the last section of the text.

Would you do what Winnie did? Why or why not?

Your response should be a well thought out short paragraph (4-5 sentences) free of spelling and grammar mistakes.  I expect to see formal school language without texting-type language or symbols.

Tuck Everlasting ch. 17-20

Winnie gets to know Miles better in these chapters.  She learns more about his life with his wife and children before he drank the spring water.  But then he becomes immortal and his wife and children leave and age as mortals do.

Do you think Miles should have gone to find his children?  Why or why not?

Tuck Everlasting ch. 11-16

In these chapters Winnie has learned much more about the effects of drinking the spring water.  The Tucks have also imparted how drinking the spring water will affect the wheel of life.  Although Angus, Mae, and Miles think being immortal is a horrible predicament, Jesse is much more positive about it.

Do you think Winnie should drink from the spring when she is 17 so she can be with Jesse?  Why or why not?

Do you have the power of persuasion?

Do you have what it takes to convince someone to share one of your beliefs?  Can you inspire people to act upon something you feel strongly about?  Two of my classes have been asked to write a persuasive story about a turkey convincing another character not to eat him for Thanksgiving.  Should the turkey use facts, statistics, or research to persuade the hungry human?  Do you think appealing to the emotions of the person would do the trick?  Or maybe the turkey could show how reliable and trustworthy he is.

What would you say and do if you were the turkey?

Tuck Everlasting ch. 6-10

In these chapters we learned the truth about the spring in Foster's woods.  Winnie befriends the Tucks and learns about their secret.

What do you think it would be like to be the same age you are now forever?  In your comment please give me your personal opinion including the pros and cons of being the same age forever.

Welcome!

Welcome to Mrs. Costabile's Colloquium!  A colloquium is defined by dictionary.com as "an informal gathering for discussion," and that is exactly what this blog is about.  It is a place for us to discuss what we are learning in class.  So jump on in and discuss!
